McCormick Taylor is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join our Baltimore, MD office. The primary duties of the Transportation Engineer are to serve in a technical role under the direction of a Project Manager on the engineering development of various transportation projects. Projects may include the preliminary and final engineering of roadway/transportation improvements, intersection design, ADA and bicycle facility design, site development improvements, transit facilities, as well as field visits and inspections.
Responsibilities- Performing engineering calculations
- Develop roadway improvements, intersection design, ADA design, bicycle facility design, site improvements, and transit facilities
- 2D and 3D modeling
- Quantity development, cost estimating and specification writing
- Support quality control/quality assurance (QA/QC)
- Attending internal and external client meetings
- Work under the guidance of experienced project managers
- Able to work on multiple design projects concurrently
- Flexible to work with other disciplines to provide support when needed
- Will lead the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction. This will include plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Knowledge of transportation design elements, standards, and constructability methods
- 4‑12 years of experience in the design of highway/roadway, civil engineering and transportation projects for Maryland counties, and local municipalities
- Efficient with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
- B.S. in Civil Engineering
- Strong communications and technical writing skills
- Ability to work on multiple assignments
- Willing and capable of performing occasional field work and have a valid driver’s license
- PE certification preferred
- Working knowledge of Micro Station, AutoCAD, InRoads, and Open Roads is a plus
- Flexible and willing to learn and grow in different directions
- Adaptable and able to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Strong work ethic
