Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to work on design, integration, and testing of prototype systems for military and commercial programs at Black Sea Technologies, a Baltimore‑based engineering and research company focused on autonomous boats and innovative marine technologies.
Responsibilities- Application of electric motors and motor controllers, including servo systems and variable frequency drives, from fractions of HP to >100 HP.
- Design, develop, and test control systems using micro‑controllers, PLCs, and digital controllers for machinery, robotics, power electronics, industrial electrical design, and digital vehicle networks.
- Develop and test communication networks and underlying software for autonomous controls and data acquisition.
- Diagnose and experiment with existing and newly developed systems and circuits using test equipment.
- Create, revise, and maintain power and network diagrams, including power budgets.
- Coordinate cross‑functional project work, interfacing with technicians for fabrication, assembly, and testing of hardware.
- Rapidly develop system designs, build prototypes, test, and manage them through production and maintenance life cycles.
- Support proposal writing and develop technical approaches to complex requirements, including estimating hours, budgets, and schedules.
- Communicate effectively and maintain strong organizational skills.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.
- 6‑10 years of progressive electrical engineering experience.
- Experience in designing electric motor systems and motor controller integration.
- Proficiency with PLCs, microcontrollers, digital controllers, and power electronics.
- Experience with communications networks, high or low‑level software for autonomous controls.
- Experience with system modeling and simulation.
- Experience with Solid Works Electrical Schematic for maintaining schematics.
- Experience in linear and nonlinear control theory implementation.
- Either a Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage project‑level tasks and coordinate with cross‑functional teams.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Salary range: $52.00 - $65.00 per hour.
- Travel:
Yes, as needed. Estimated about 4 trips per year.
