- Apply coastal models to study waves, currents, and sediment transport
- Assist with coastal engineering design, including living shoreline, shoreline stabilization, flood resiliency projects. Tasks may include preparing engineering plans, specifications, and quantity estimates
- Assist with the design of deep draft navigation channels, including vessel simulations
- Apply computer models to simulate floating vessels & structures (e.g., container ships, cruise ships, or oil tankers) to support marine terminal design efforts
- Prepare calculations for wind waves, scour protection, revetment design, wave run‑up, and wave forces on structures
- Complete data and engineering analyses and GIS mapping
- Perform field work as needed
- Field data collection and navigation of difficult terrain may be required
- Implementing scientific and regulatory tasks for projects in order to ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations and policies, including NEPA, Endangered Species Act, and Clean Water Act
- Assist with project types:
- Wetland restoration
- Dredging
- Waterfront structures
- Coastal and environmental protection initiatives
- Marine terminal design

Qualifications:- Master’s Degree in Coastal Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field
- Graduation date on or before December 2026
- GPA higher than 3.0
- Possess an understanding of water wave mechanics and marine hydrodynamics, as well as numerical simulation of hydrodynamics, waves, and/or floating bodies
- Prior experience with any of the following software is a plus: AQWA, WAMIT, Orca Flex, DHI MIKE, Delft3D, Open Foam, Flow3D
- Proficient in AutoCAD and/or GIS, with an understanding of cartographic coordinate systems and projections
- Proficient at technical writing, with the ability to generate technical reports and concisely summarize project information.
- Comfortable interacting with clients, responding to questions both in meetings and via email.
- Programming skills desired (MATLAB, Python or similar)
- Proficient with probability and statistics, and the ability to analyze and present large datasets in tabular and graphic formats
