Insight Global is seeking a Mid-level Marine Mechanical Engineer (Auxiliary) to support a top federal maritime client. This individual will play a key role on a ship design team, contributing to the analysis, design, and integration of critical auxiliary and mechanical systems for U.S. Coast Guard vessels. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in marine engineering, familiarity with federal shipbuilding standards, and a passion for supporting mission‑critical maritime programs.
This is a highly visible, hands‑on engineering role with long‑term stability and growth supporting national security initiatives.
- Provide technical engineering support for marine vessels and shipboard systems
- Design, analyze, and integrate auxiliary systems including piping, pumps, valves, hydraulics, HVAC, rudders, and weight handling equipment
- Develop and maintain system documentation and ship specifications
- Lead and contribute to technical data package development and design reviews
- Perform trade studies and engineering analyses to support design decisions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary ship design teams
- Conduct periodic shipboard and waterfront visits to support design validation

- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related ABET‑accredited discipline
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in marine mechanical engineering
- At least 3 years of hands‑on experience with:
- Marine auxiliary and piping systems design/integration
- Ship machinery integration
- Cargo handling and/or weight handling systems calculations and analysis
- Familiarity with ABS, USN, and industry standards for shipboard auxiliary systems
- Experience developing system documentation, specifications, and technical data packages
- Proficiency with common productivity software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in office and shipboard/waterfront environments
- Willingness to travel up to 10%
- Experience supporting U.S. Federal or commercial ship/boat building programs
- Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding acquisition programs
- Prior work directly supporting USCG, Navy, or other federal maritime organizations
