Lead ICT Design Engineer, ICT Infra Engineering

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. Working as an ICT Design Engineer, you will collaborate with architects, engineers, and managers to develop physical layer solutions, create pathway, space, and cabling designs, and engage suppliers to define product requirements.

• Ensure timely delivery of scalable fiber optic & copper plant designs and specifications.
• Review and approve ICT pathway, cabling and equipment submittals.
• Identify and respond to risks and high‑priority issues rapidly and effectively.
• Support new technology and design activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation time.
• Travel 20%+ to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS data centers.
• Propose creative, out‑of‑the‑box solutions.

• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities including data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications and submittal documents.
• 2+ years in ICT design in mission‑critical environments.
• 5+ years working with fiber optic components, cabling and interconnect products, technologies and standards.
• BICSI RCDD certification or equivalent (e.g., CDCDP, DCDC).

• Professional Engineer license.
• Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.

The base salary range for this position is $–$ USD annually, depending on location:
Columbus, OH;
Austin, TX;
Herndon, VA;
Seattle, WA. Compensation also includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
