Job DescriptionCMTA Energy Solutions has a robust co-op program for college students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. We offer an immersive experience for two or more semesters, developing students into full‑time caliber employees. The program is designed to give co‑ops advanced project experience, allowing them to stand out through challenging, real‑world projects. Co‑ops will participate in multiple Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracts and will be involved in every stage of development, from initial development through implementation.
The role provides hands‑on experience with photovoltaic systems, LED lighting designs, HVAC systems such as geothermal, and building automation systems. By the end of the program, co‑ops should be prepared to enter the Energy Service Company industry and may become part of the fastest‑growing ESCO in the country.
- Assist in all aspects of the project development phase, including site visits, building audits, and energy calculations.
- Generate energy models and perform calculations to evaluate the feasibility of energy savings measures.
- Assemble organized sets of project drawings and documents.
- Collect and analyze energy data, often involving field verification.
- Work collaboratively with designers and professional engineers to develop all aspects of a project.
Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
- CAD experience is helpful but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
- Ability to travel locally for field work.
