Position Overview
The Aircraft Mechanic III is responsible for support of highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries.
Essential Responsibilities- Perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including repairs, modifications of aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty.
- Maintain and repair aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
- Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and apply technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints and manufacturers manuals.
- Execute inspections including, but not limited to, preflight, thru-flight, basic post-flight, and phase inspections.
- Launch and recover aircraft as required.
- Perform operational checks of all aircraft systems and maintain aircraft appearance and cleanliness.
- Operate all associated ground support equipment and use hand tools, special tools, and fixtures applicable to aircraft.
- Perform all tasks associated with the ground movement of aircraft.
- Annotate maintenance actions in aircraft records/forms and complete associated IMDS entries.
- Practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness and prevention and safety at all times.
- Perform other duties related to the occupational field as assigned including TDY and travel.
- Work day shift, second shift, night shift, and/or weekend shift as required.
- Become proficient to perform maintenance in three classifications (aircraft general, jet engines, and pneudraulics) through Cross Utilization Training (CUT).
- Knowledge of the use of aircraft hand tools, special tools, and test equipment.
- Working knowledge of aircraft safety requirements and ability to operate portable firefighting equipment.
- Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications.
- Must possess an FAA A&P certificate.
- Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; US Citizenship required.
- Must be able to obtain & maintain a flightline driver’s license.
- Three years’ working knowledge of aircraft maintenance operations.
Hourly Rate: $53.84. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
