We are looking for an Applied Research Mathematician to join a growing team in Annapolis Junction.
The Applied Research Mathematician will plan, develop, coordinate, and perform work involving the development and application of mathematical methods to solve complex problems across a variety of subject areas. Work requires applying rigorous mathematical reasoning, analytic techniques, and efficient problem‑solving approaches to produce logically sound and defensible results.
This role will leverage advanced mathematics, algorithm development, and modeling techniques to support mission‑driven analysis and research efforts.
Responsibilities- Experience with mathematical modeling, algorithm development, and analytic problem‑solving.
- Strong foundation in advanced mathematics, including discrete mathematics, linear algebra, probability, and statistics.
- Ability to apply mathematical methods to real‑world problems in a research or applied setting.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to rigor, accuracy, and logical consistency.
- 5 years of relevant experience in the design, development, use, and evaluation of mathematical models, methods, and/or techniques (e.g., algorithm development) to study issues and solve problems.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Degree must include at least 24 credit hours of advanced mathematics.
- 8 years of relevant experience in the design, development, use, and evaluation of mathematical models, methods, and/or techniques (e.g., algorithm development) to study issues and solve problems.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Degree must include at least 24 credit hours of advanced mathematics.
- 11 years of relevant experience in the design, development, use, and evaluation of mathematical models, methods, and/or techniques (e.g., algorithm development) to study issues and solve problems.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Degree must include at least 24 credit hours of advanced mathematics.
- US citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required.

Pay Range$49,996.80 – $. Pay ranges are a general guideline and not intended as a guaranteed and/or implied final compensation or salary for this job opening. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
