About the Role

As Manager – Utility Transmission Planning
, you will lead a team of transmission planning and studies engineers, working closely with T&D utilities, independent power producers, and occasionally non‑utility clients. You will provide senior technical supervision, liaise with internal Jacobs project managers and external clients, and support Jacobs’ business development and proposal efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team, ensuring high‑quality technical deliverables.
  • Coordinate with clients and internal stakeholders to develop and execute transmission planning studies.
  • Advise on compliance with North American standards (NERC, FERC, ISO interconnection practices).
  • Represent Jacobs in technical negotiations and business development discussions.
  • Support the creation of proposals, bids, and engagement with potential clients.
  • Travel within North America as required.
Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of technical industry experience in transmission planning or power system studies (utility or consulting).
  • Strong knowledge of NERC, FERC, and ISO interconnection practices.
  • Proven team‑leadership skills with effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within North America.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large‑load planning and interconnection, such as data center projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE or PEng) license.
