Job Description

The Battery Engineer with five or more years of related experience serves as a project engineer with a leadership role in Lithium‑Ion product development programs. The position focuses on custom battery design, manufacturing, and testing with a team of about 45 members. The successful applicant will develop innovative cell designs, establish processes, experimental models, prototypes, and manufacturing procedures.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Develop Li‑Ion cell and electrode designs to meet customer‑specified electrical requirements for rechargeable batteries.
  • Work with advanced battery materials such as high‑energy cathode, silicon anode, and wide‑temperature electrolytes.
  • Apply fundamental knowledge of electrochemical characterization techniques.
  • Drive battery product development from concept to final CDR and transition to manufacturing.
  • Lead development phases, including design refinement, validation, and implementation in manufacturing settings.
  • Correlate electrochemical data and process parameters to optimize Li‑Ion cell performance.
  • Demonstrate problem‑solving ability and resolve battery performance and manufacturing issues.
  • Develop test procedures, implement test plans, and analyze evaluation data.
  • Participate actively in prototype fabrication and testing (40‑60% of time on the manufacturing floor).
  • Write product specifications, operation procedures, and technical reports; interface with customers and suppliers.
  • Assume a leadership role in technical projects while working in a team environment.
  • Exhibit exceptional organizational, troubleshooting, interpersonal, and leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism, excellent communication, and presentation skills.
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D., Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Five or more years of work experience in a battery development and manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in chemistry, materials science, and chemical engineering.
  • Experience with battery or electrochemical cell design, electrode coating, and cell (pouch, hardware, and cylindrical) development process techniques.
  • Experience with CAD solid modeling and engineering drawings preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required for government clearance and/or data/software access.

  • Skills and experience with materials characterization, packaging, tooling design, welding, process engineering, testing, and data analysis.

Salary Range

$120,000 – $150,000. The listed range is an estimate; actual compensation is determined based on factors such as location, education, experience, and skill level.
