Environmental Analyst I – Baltimore City, MD
Position Overview
This project management role supports the Environmental Program Division (EPD) within the Office of Environmental Design (OED) of the Maryland State Highway Administration. Key duties include:
- Coordinating and negotiating wetland and waterway permits and approvals with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Maryland Department of the Environment, and other regulatory agencies.
- Managing compensatory mitigation projects and ensuring the avoidance and minimization of impacts to regulated natural resources.
- Supporting MDOT SHA design divisions during project delivery and coordinating with internal and external customers.

QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in natural sciences, earth science, physical science, environmental science, chemistry, physics, biology, agronomy, forestry, horticulture, geography, environmental planning, civil engineering, sociology, economics, planning, anthropology, architectural history, or related fields such as ecology, landscape architecture, or environmental engineering.
Experience: None required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Knowledge of wetland, stream, and/or forest ecosystems.
- Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the state of Maryland.
