Role OverviewRK&K is hiring an internship Designer – Utilities. This is a full‑time role in Baltimore. The posted range is $52k to $69k. Full responsibilities, required qualifications, and the apply link are listed in the description below.
Essential Functions- Develop technically accurate and deliverable computer‑generated drawings based on direction and engineering sketches; preparation of contract drawings and color renderings; maintain adherence to company and client CADD standards and procedures
- Support project research, agency requirements, drawing preparation, organizing CADD files drafts, design plans, and details
- Use computer‑aided drafting software to develop layouts, drawings, and designs that meet engineering specifications
- Supports engineers and designers of all disciplines through a variety of tasks including proposal drawings, completing redlines, and sketches
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings
- Review engineering drawings, analyze design and retrieve information to complete drawing, layout, or design
- Support surveying data processing and assist in the development of plats and designs using CADD technology
- Complete field reconnaissance for different projects
- Interact with customers effectively to ensure they have a thorough understanding of the engineering/design project
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret basic technical documents and apply drafting/CADD techniques to project tasks
- 0-2 years of relevant experience
- Possesses good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively present information to individuals and groups
- Continuing education or college level training
- Experience in Utility Engineering or Construction industry
- 2+ years of proficiency in AutoCAD or Micro Station CADD platforms
- Basic understanding of geometry/trigonometry
- Detail oriented and able to follow QA/QC procedures
- Pipeline construction drawing experience
Understanding of GIS Mapping software (ESRI, ArcGIS, GE Small world) - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience using collaborative virtual applications (Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom)
