Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector has an immediate need for Manufacturing Project Engineer 3/4 to support programs in Final Assembly areas within manufacturing. The primary location is our Linthicum, MD facility.
Responsibilities- Act as lead, and primary point of contact, for all manufacturing engineering tasks that are required to achieve program objectives
- Monitor metrics for product performance, quality, delivery, and cost; highlight detractors and gather resources to resolve them
- Collaborate closely with process engineers, functional groups supporting the shop floor (quality engineering, manufacturing supervision, production, operations, design engineering, program management), the program office, and the customer to ensure manufacturing plan is defined and executed; lead efforts to remove obstacles and constraints to execution
- Lead root cause corrective action efforts
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities; create solutions, acquire funding and lead implementation
- Review product on the shop floor
- Lead communications outward from the shop floor, through yield meetings, situation reports, problem resolution charts, etc.
- Gather and document non-recurring cost for initial product startup as well as support manufacturing readiness reviews
- Coordinate between non-deliverable hardware requestors and manufacturing operations/engineering
The chosen candidate must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility environment; work well in a team environment; and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
This requisition may be filled as a Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer 3 or a Senior Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer 4.
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Manufacturing Project Engineer 3- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other related STEM area and at least 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Production, or related area - OR - a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience
- Experience in an electronics assembly manufacturing environment
- Experience managing or leading projects and/or people
- Familiarity with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 sigma concepts for process development and control
- Fluency in MS Office software applications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Level Security Clearance.
- US Citizenship is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other related STEM area and at least 8+ years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, Production, or related area - OR - a Master's degree with 6+ years of experience
- Experience in an electronics assembly manufacturing environment
- Experience managing or leading projects and/or people
- Familiarity with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 sigma concepts for process development and control
- Fluency in MS Office software applications
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Level Security Clearance.
- US Citizenship is required.
- MESA and/or ATP program experience.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
