Black Sea Technologies. We are a Baltimore-based engineering, research, development, and production company focused on autonomous boats and other innovative marine and transformative technologies. The organization is seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer to contribute to design, integration, and testing of prototype systems for military and commercial programs. The successful candidate will have experience or strong interest in the following areas:
- The application of electric motors (from fractions of Hp to >100 hp) and motor controllers including servo systems and variable frequency drives.
- The development of control systems using microcontrollers, programmable logic controllers, and other digital controllers used with machinery and robotics, power electronics, industrial electrical design and control, and digital vehicle networks.
- Experience in the development and testing of communications networks and high- or low-level software for autonomous controls and data acquisition.
Salary range: $52.00 - $65.00 an hour.
Travel required:
Yes, as needed. Estimated 4 trips per year.
- Design, integration, and testing of prototype systems for military and commercial programs.
- Work across areas such as electric propulsion, motor controllers, and control systems.
- Develop and test communications networks and software for autonomous controls and data acquisition.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance projects from concept through production and maintenance life cycles.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
- 6–10 years of relevant progressive experience in Electrical Engineering.
- Ability to work with test equipment to diagnose and experiment with pre-existing and newly developed systems and circuits.
- Ability to solve technical problems independently.
- Ability to create, revise, and maintain power and network diagrams, including power budgets, and make recommendations for improvements, enhancements, or modifications.
- Ability to coordinate project-level work efforts, interfacing with technicians for the fabrication, assembly, and testing of hardware.
- Ability to work on cross-functional teams to rapidly develop system designs, build prototypes, test, and manage them through the production and maintenance lifecycle.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to support proposal writing efforts led by others.
- Ability to develop technical approaches to complex requirements, including estimating hours, budgets, and schedules for efforts under consideration.
- Experience in system modeling and simulation.
- Experience using Solid Works Electrical Schematic to create and maintain schematics.
- Experience in linear and nonlinear control theory implementation.
- A Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance.
