Job Summary
CMTA, a Legence company, is looking for an entry‑level mechanical engineer to help in our Energy Solutions office in Baltimore, Maryland. The role supports all aspects of performance contracts for our clients, from conception through completion, and helps throughout all phases. The successful candidate is self‑motivated, thrives on helping clients, and has a technical background that allows involvement and leadership across all phases of our work.
Although this position is for the performance contracting division, engineers with strong HVAC design and commissioning experience can transition to an energy engineer role within our Energy Solutions group.
The Mechanical Engineer supports all aspects of performance contracts for our clients and plays a key part in developing new opportunities, presenting to clients, and contributing to CMTA’s culture. Key duties include:
- Help develop and present project opportunities to potential clients
- Support client meetings, industry events, and proposal development
- Project development including site visits, audits, and energy calculations
- Engineering design review of drawings and specifications
- Support the bidding process to ensure quality and competitive outcomes
- Help facilitate the contract administration process
- Work with the construction manager to ensure a smooth construction period
- Commission installed systems to validate performance
- Support the client through the warranty phase as needed
- Work with Measurement & Verification professionals to develop M&V reports
- Minimum 0‑3 years of experience with an Energy Services company or a consulting engineering/commissioning firm is preferred

- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
- Minimum GPA: 3.39
$75,000 – $90,000. The role is also eligible for an annual performance‑based bonus. Bonus eligibility and payout are determined by role, individual performance, and company performance, and are not guaranteed.
