About JobABB seeks a skilled Controls/Automation Field Engineer to contribute to the profitability of our Electrification Services Division in the Mid-Atlantic region. This hybrid role combines technical expertise in power delivery systems with hands‑on field engineering to ensure reliable operation of critical power infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Program and configure PLC systems, distributed I/O, and HMI interfaces
- Execute hands‑on project work including startup, commissioning, and maintenance
- Develop electrical equipment layouts, schematics, and network architectures
- Troubleshoot and repair power delivery equipment including switch gear and circuit breakers
- Ensure project execution meets time and budget objectives
- Bachelor's in Engineering OR High School/GED with 8+ years relevant experience
- Minimum 5 years of field engineering experience
- Extensive knowledge of PLC automation tools (Emerson/ABB)
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Proficy Machine Edition, ABB Automation Builder)
- HMI development experience with platforms like Cimplicity or Wonderware
- Skilled in AutoCAD for electrical design
- Willingness to travel approximately 50%
- Generator controls knowledge
- Protective relay programming (Multilin, SEL)
- Strong understanding of switch gear and low/medium voltage systems
- Computer proficiency with Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Valid driver's license and work authorization for United States
