Position Title: Professional Land Surveyor
Location: Baltimore, Maryland (projects primarily within MD)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position OverviewWe are seeking a Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join our team and support a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects throughout the state of Maryland. This role requires hands‑on surveying expertise, strong knowledge of Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) / State Highway Administration (SHA) standards, and the ability to manage surveying tasks from planning through execution.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned surveyor who is comfortable working both in the field and in coordination with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver accurate, compliant, and timely survey results.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and oversee boundary, topographic, right-of-way, construction, and control surveys
- Prepare, review, and certify survey plats, maps, and related documentation
- Ensure all survey work complies with MDOT / SHA standards, specifications, and procedures
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to support roadway and transportation projects
- Provide technical guidance and quality control for survey data and deliverables
Manage field operations, schedules, and priorities as needed - Maintain accurate records, notes, and survey files
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams regarding project status and requirements
- Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in the State of Maryland (required)
- 5+ years of professional surveying experience, including direct experience with MDOT / SHA projects
- Strong working knowledge of Maryland surveying regulations and transportation project requirements
- Proficiency with standard surveying equipment and software
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Must be willing to use personal vehicle for travel to project sites
- Mileage and vehicle use will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy
- Ability to perform field work in varying weather and site conditions
