Waste Water Technician Supervisor II Sanitary

Salary Range: $68,459 - $111,581 / Annually

Hiring Salary Range: $68,459 – $68,459 / Annually

Job Summary:

A Waste Water Technician Supervisor II Sanitary oversees the operation of an area of a waste water treatment plant and may supervise shift supervisors. Work of this class involves supervising waste water operations technician staff and may involve directing waste water operations units through subordinate supervisors.

Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class may work evening, night, weekend, holiday and callback hours as required or held over until properly relieved or for emergencies. Work is performed in a waste water treatment plant where there is regular exposure to toxic chemicals, pathogenic bacteria, noxious odors and extremes of weather. Work requires moderate physical exertion.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.

AND

Experience:

Have five years of experience in the operation, maintenance and minor repair of equipment in a waste water treatment plant including one year of such supervisory responsibilities as disciplining, evaluating the performance of, and recommending the hiring, firing and promoting of others.

Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates:
Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver's permit. PROVISIONAL DRIVER'S LICENSE OR LEARNER PERMITS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.

NOTE:

YOU MUST UPLOAD A COPY OF YOUR VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE WITH APPLICATION AT TIME OF APPLYING.

Employees in this class must hold and maintain a valid State of Maryland Permanent Operator's Certificate Wastewater Class A and Class 5, issued by the Board of Waterworks and Waste System Operators, throughout employment.

NOTE:

Employees must be able to wear respirators and self-contained breathing apparatus due to environmental issues.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

· Knowledge of waste water processing procedures and the theories of waste water treatment.

· Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and minor repair of plant equipment.

· Knowledge of the procedures involved in testing water samples and making equipment adjustments.

· Knowledge of Maryland State and Federal regulations regarding permit requirements.

· Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.

· Ability to train others.

· Ability to establish and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.

· Ability to interpret department, City, Federal and State regulations, policies and procedures for others.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others.

· Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

· Supervisory ability.

· Ability to schedule and coordinate work between shifts.

· Ability to evaluate operating procedures, recommend operational changes and write reports.

Additional Information

Background Check:
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.

Probation:
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-months.

Eligibility:
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.

Education Accreditation:
