Porter – Johns Hopkins Health System Parking – Towne Park – Baltimore, MD
The Porter is responsible for the overall basic general cleaning of the common garage area while providing exceptional hospitality services in an attentive, friendly and efficient manner to all guests during their entire stay. The Porter also aids with general upkeep of garage equipment, waste receptacles and assists with any parking‑area customer issue, including lock‑outs, flat tires, battery jump and lost vehicle assistance.

- Compensation: $15 per hour; pay will be based on skills, experience, education or training and location.
- Work Schedule: Morning shifts 7am–3pm.
- Benefits: Eligible for accident insurance, critical illness insurance, hospital indemnity insurance, telemedicine benefits and company 401(k) retirement savings plan. Benefits are subject to plan terms and are not available for seasonal or temporary roles.
- Perform cleanliness checks of all guest entrances and elevator landings in the entire garage. Empty ash urns daily and empty trash receptacles when half full or higher; sweep litter and cigarette butts in common landing areas. (20%)
- Use mop or power washer to eliminate any stains in the common area from liquid spills; wipe signage and way finding material with appropriate cleaning solutions and cloth, including all pay‑on‑foot stations. (20%)
- Maintain general cleaning of garage with mobile garbage can, broom and dustpan around all vehicles, including debris, cans, bottles, cups, and refuse on the ground, ledges and walls; use paint‑safe solution or power washer to remove stains from pillars and columns. (15%)
- Wipe all signage and way finding materials at all garage vehicular entrances and exits; clean all equipment including gates, gate arms, card reading equipment and attached signage. (15%)
- Empty returned guest key receptacles at each garage exit and return to the Towne Park MOD for appropriate facility. Power wash any garage entrance or exit areas needing additional attention. (10%)
- Assist guests with directions and inquiries; stand while serving guests; provide information about surrounding area and main attractions. (10%)
- Protect guest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements; maintain security of customer financial and identifying information. (10%)
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Age & Background: Must be at least 18 years old and pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
- Work Experience: One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Customer service experience preferred.
- Knowledge: Basic general cleaning.
- Skills: Read and write Standard English; comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos; write simple correspondence; present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations; understand 24‑hour and military time; understand applicable rates. Customer service experience preferred.
The role requires frequent sitting or standing for extended periods, running or walking, handling objects and tools, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Visual demands include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee may lift up to 100pounds occasionally, 50pounds frequently or 20pounds constantly. Work is largely outdoors for extended periods, with exposure to extreme heat and cold;
protection from weather may be provided but not guaranteed. Travel of up to 5% may be required.
