Accounting Team Lead Job Description
As an Accounting Team Lead, you will oversee the administration and management of the company's global equity and option plans. Your role will involve coordinating with various departments and ensuring all equity-related transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities- Manage and direct colleagues responsible for equity functions.
- Oversee the day-to-day administration of the company’s equity accounting and option plans globally, including booking, processing, reviewing subscriptions, redemptions, transfers, and all unit holder-related transactions.
- Coordinate with departments such as Accounting & Finance, Human Resources, and Legal.
- Accurately collect and enter data into our equity administration software in a timely manner.
- Coordinate the approval of new equity and option grants, ensuring proper approvals and controls are in place.
- Reconcile master equity records to the firm’s investment portfolio accounting system.
- Assist with year-end financial statement audits and other regulatory examination requests.
- Liaise with in-house tax and payroll teams to communicate compensation impact to colleagues both in and outside of the United States.
- Develop and provide firm-wide education and training sessions on equity compensation.
- Maintain an inbox for any questions related to the firm’s equity plans.
- Execute and distribute all equity-related documents.
- Respond to requests for information from shareholders and potential investors.
- Create formal equity-related procedures, policies, and controls.
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Participate in educational opportunities and maintain professional networks.
- Update job knowledge by reading professional publications and participating in professional organizations.
- Team lead experience with at least one person.
- Three to five years of accounting or financial industry-related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in General Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure with multiple priorities.
- High level of initiative and sound judgment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of equity compensation information.
- Proficiency in managing workflow through multiple systems and applications.
- Excellent computer skills, particularly in Excel and data manipulation.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources.
- Excellent client service orientation and flexibility.
- Ability to prioritize multiple work streams and perform effectively under pressure.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with accounting, reconciliation, month-end processes, journal entry, and equity compensation.
This position requires working on-site five days a week in an office with many perks, including free lunches and snacks. The office is located in a scenic area right on the water, with convenient parking options available. Additional compensation is provided to cover parking expenses.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43.26 - $45.67/hr.
