Behavioral Health System Baltimore is on the lookout for a rockstar professional to dive into audit reports from our sub-vendors. You'll be partnering with our Contract, Programs, and Quality teams to keep everything accurate and in line with our policies. This position reports to the Director, Contracts and is responsible for the review and analysis of required independent audit reports submitted by sub-vendors contracted with BHSB. The Accounting monitor works closely with the Contract, Programs and Quality Teams in the overall management and monitoring of sub-vendor contracts to ensure accuracy, accountability and conformity with established organization policies and procedures.
Essential Functions- Plans and executes sub-vendor financial audits by understanding organization objectives, structure, policies, processes, internal controls, and external regulations; identifying risk areas; preparing audit scope and objectives; preparing audit programs.
- Assesses compliance with financial regulations and controls by executing audit program steps; testing general ledger, account balances, balance sheets, income statements, and related financial statements; examining and analyzing records, reports, operating practices, and documentation.
- Assesses risks and internal controls by identifying areas of non-compliance; evaluating manual and automated financial processes; identifying process weaknesses and inefficiencies and operational issues.
- Verifies assets and liabilities by comparing and analyzing items and collateral to documentation.
- Completes audit work papers and memoranda by documenting audit tests and findings.
- Communicates audit progress and findings by providing information in status meetings; highlighting unresolved issues; reviewing working papers; preparing final audit reports.
- Improves protection by recommending changes in management monitoring, assessment, and motivational practices, in the internal control structure, and in operating processes, identifying root causes.
- Supports external auditors by coordinating information requirements.
- Provides financial control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
- Keeps information confidential.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with others, both internally and externally to BHSB.

- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, finance or related field.
- 2+ years’ experience as a Financial Auditor at the state, federal or non-profit level is preferred.
- 3-5 years of applicable experience within a Finance department, preferably in a non-profit organization.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience with MS Office package software applications with advanced skills using Microsoft Excel and Word.
