hyrUP is partnering with a public company looking to hire a Financial Reporting Manager.
About the RoleThe SEC Reporting Manager is responsible for managing the preparation, review, and timely filing of all SEC reports and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations. This role serves as a key liaison between accounting, legal, investor relations, and external auditors, and requires strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail in a fast-paced public company environment.
Responsibilities- Manage the preparation and filing of all periodic SEC reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, as well as proxy statements and registration statements as needed.
- Ensure all filings are accurate, complete, and submitted on time in accordance with SEC deadlines.
- Maintain and apply current knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC rules and regulations, and emerging accounting standards (ASC updates, FASB guidance) to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Research and document the company's technical accounting positions on complex or non-routine transactions.
- Coordinate the external audit and quarterly review process, serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors on financial reporting matters.
- Manage the preparation of audit support schedules and facilitate timely responses to auditor requests.
- Oversee the preparation of XBRL/iXBRL tagging for all SEC filings in compliance with SEC inline XBRL requirements.
- Partner with the XBRL provider or internal team to ensure accuracy and completeness of tagged data.
- Support the preparation of the earnings release and related financial schedules in coordination with investor relations and senior finance leadership.
- Review press release financial tables for consistency with SEC filings.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) related to the SEC reporting process, including supporting Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Section 302 and 404 compliance.
- Identify and remediate control gaps as needed.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, tax, treasury, FP&A, and business unit finance teams to gather financial information, disclosures, and supporting documentation required for filings.
- Develop and maintain the SEC reporting calendar, ensuring all internal and external deadlines are clearly communicated and met.
- Manage and mentor one or more staff or senior accountants supporting the reporting function.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 3 years in SEC reporting at a public company or Big 4 / national public accounting firm
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and financial statement preparation
- Experience with Workiva (Wdesk) or similar SEC filing platforms strongly preferred
- Proficiency with XBRL/iXBRL tagging requirements
- Strong technical accounting background, including knowledge of recent accounting pronouncements (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 718)
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to draft and edit financial disclosures clearly and concisely
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
- SOX compliance experience required; experience supporting external audits strongly preferred
