Leveraged Lending Analyst

Overview

Serve as a member of an analyst team that supports senior bankers in leveraged finance transactions. Prepare financial analysis and underwriting materials and assist in the preparation of proposals and pitches.

• Participate in the preparation of materials to support leveraged finance transactions, including financial modeling; comparable company transaction multiple or deal structure analyses to support deal positioning, negotiation and execution.
• Assist in the preparation of memoranda, presentation materials, and marketing materials.
• Facilitate research projects that underpin transaction positioning and recommendations to enhance shareholder value.
• Coordinate and carry out routine operational tasks that arise on a day-to-day basis.
• Manage business unit projects as assigned.
• Maintain appropriate records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Supports a defined product set of valuation skills, including modeling. Has a working knowledge of lending and credit, as well as investment banking (0-3 years).

The position requires introductory interaction with clients and referral sources—external (prospective customers) and internal (various Bank personnel) contacts to perform responsibilities.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field and 1 year’s experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 3 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years banking or financial services experience.

Highly proficient in Microsoft Office:
Word, Excel and Power Point.

Minimum of 1 year proven and progressive investment banking and capital markets roles.

Travel required.
