Payroll Processing Supervisor

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA), one of the largest transit systems in the United States, is seeking a Payroll Processing Supervisor to join its Office of Financial Management. This position plays a critical role in overseeing and coordinating the agency's union payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all payroll processes.

Key responsibilities include supervising and managing payroll operations for approximately 2,800 active union employees (weekly) and 2,300 pension employees (monthly), auditing and analyzing time submissions, hours worked, and payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance, generating and reviewing reports to support audits, data analysis, and process improvements, collaborating with internal teams including HR, Labor Relations, Finance, IT, and external partners such as ADP, assisting the Payroll Manager with daily operations, team objectives, and implementation of new processes, troubleshooting payroll issues related to pay codes, PTO benefits, pension, holidays, and other ADP system functions, ensuring accuracy of the general ledger and coordinating with Finance on payroll-related financial transactions, and identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance customer service.

To apply, you must complete a Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) application (Form DTS-1) to be considered for this recruitment. Resumes may not be substituted for the application. Consideration for employment may be based solely on the contents of your application; therefore, it is essential that the application is filled out completely and accurately, listing all relevant experience in detail and addressing the specific requirements shown above.

Please include relevant experience on your application. This includes, but is not limited to, full or part time, volunteer, military, acting capacity, or any other experience that is relevant to the position you are applying for within MDOT, one of the Transportation Business Units, or the Authority.

It is highly recommended that applications be completed and submitted online by registering t.maryland.gov/employment. Make sure you meet the minimum and selective qualifications and follow the instructions on MDOT's Online Employment Center website.
