** Job Summary
** The Deputy Director of the Records Management Section (RMS) performs professional work in directing an administrative, programmatic, or technical operation for an agency. The Deputy Director will act as second in command, overseeing internal operations, staff management, and strategic implementation to support the Director by overseeing the activities of the Records, providing recommendations for training, evaluating supervisors’ performance, conducting compliance audits, and other duties to support the Director.
Work in this class involves supervising subordinate managers and may include supervising clerical or technical personnel. The Records Management Section is responsible for the management of all court-ordered and petition expungements, identification of known and unknown deceased fingerprints, attending court when summoned, archiving historical BPD data, processing arrest citations, classification of incident reports, MPIA processing, and distribution of incident and accident reports for the BPD.
Also provide 24-hour support to all departmental members, Federal, State, and local agencies warrant, NCIC entries, queries, and confirmation.
Incumbents receive managerial supervision from the Commander of the Records Management Division. Employees in this class work a conventional work week and may be required to work evening and weekend hours, as well as a 24-hour callback in an emergency. Work is performed in an office with normal work conditions. Work requires minimal physical exertion
** Essential Functions
*** Participates in meetings with Maryland State Police, University of Maryland, Baltimore City School Police, MONSE, Central Booking, Baltimore City Courts, and other police agency stakeholders to ensure compliance with BPD.
* Conducts audits.
* Audits and analyze BPD’s records of arrest warrants.
* Audits and analyzes Domestic Violence warrants and summons data.
* Audits and analyzes Criminal and Civil Citations data.
* Monitors staffing needs for all units.
* Implement key initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Director.
* Coordinates with unit supervisors to ensure that the goals set forth by the Director’s strategic vision for each section are implemented.
* Audits NIBIN reporting requirements and departmental use of Records Management Technology systems.
* Manages a group of professionals engaged in diverse administrative and management support activities.
* Conducts research and evaluation of trends in applicable areas of responsibility.
* Help develop short-term goals, objectives, and solutions for the section.
