DPSCS Correctional Case Management Specialist II – CORR 0007
Position SummaryFull performance level assessment and evaluation of adult inmates to recommend security level and develop appropriate work and educational programs. The role does not involve supervising other positions.
Position Duties- Provide direct reentry services to incarcerated individuals on the 273‑day list.
- Develop individualized transition reentry release plans.
- Coordinate reentry programs within the facility.
- Connect inmates to community‑based services—including transitional housing, mental health, substance‑abuse treatment, job training, and educational opportunities.
- Prepare individualized resource plans meeting discharge requirements.
- Coordinate (when applicable) monthly group‑exit orientations.
- Conduct reentry assessment interviews.
- Provide referrals to internal and external stakeholders and other disciplines.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to secure needed transitional services.
- Establish community partnerships and engage providers in on‑site resource fairs.
- Input assessment data into shared database systems (OCMS and SharePoint) within required time frames.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three years of experience assessing inmates’ security risk and program needs for classification and program planning.
Notes:
- One year of experience as a Correctional Officer, Correctional Dietary Officer, Correctional Maintenance Officer or Correctional Supply Officer may substitute for one year of required experience.
- One year of experience as a U.S. Armed Forces commissioned officer in correctional classifications or specialty codes may substitute for one year of required experience at a rate of two years of military experience for one year of required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of Correctional training with the DPSCS Academy.
- Experience providing direct reentry services and preparing individualized resource plans that meet discharge requirements.
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license if duties require driving.
Special Requirements- Must meet selection standards and complete training for a Correctional Classification Counselor, including U.S. citizenship or resident alien status, age 21 or older, completed background investigation, oral interview, and physical examination.
- Subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09.
