Schedule - Shift - Hours Full-time - Day shift - 8:00am-4:30pm

Under direct supervision of a physician, performs a variety of clinical responsibilities to assist in the examination and treatment of patients. Performs other functions to support hospital and departmental requirements. Works proactively and in partnership with other staff, contributing to effective operations. Delivers service in conjunction with the hospital's customer service standards and expectations.

• Provides assistance and preparation prior to and during examination by health care providers.
• Prepares examination/treatment rooms for examinations of patients by properly positioning instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Interviews patient to obtain reasons for visit, such as nature of complaint, physical problems, symptoms of illness, etc.
• Prepares patient for examination by performing various routine physical assessments such as vital signs, height, weight, blood pressure, etc.
• Will draw blood/phlebotomy.
• Prepares and assists health care provider during examination and procedures.
• Maintains logs for refrigerator temperature (medications and specimens) and weekly exam room cleaning.
• Maintains timely monitoring and documentation (tracking) of physician ordered laboratory tests, radiology, ultrasound, e.
• Administers medication by oral, intramuscular or subcutaneous routes under physician orders.
• Performs general clerical duties necessary to support physician office practice. Will check in and out, verify insurance coverage and schedule appointments.
• May require occasional coverage at Quarry Lake (Pikesville) and Northwest Hospital, so must have reliable transportation.

• Education
  : HS Diploma/GED preferred. Completion of MA Curriculum or equivalent preferred.
• Licensure/Certification
  : AHA BLS CPR required.
• Experience
  :
  Prior medical assistant experience including phlebotomy experience.
