Provides administrative support to department or one or more physicians; performs routine tasks, such as typing correspondence, scheduling patient appointments for a limited number of physicians and business appointments; requires intermediate knowledge of medical terminology and insurance information; may serve as a leader to lower level administrative staff; where the electronic system is in use, this position will utilize the system as documented in the department and/or FPI standard operating procedure and process;
and other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Minimum of two years of experience in a medical office setting; knowledge of medical terminology is required
- Accurate typing and data entry skills
- Excellent organization skills
- Basic knowledge of software used by department
- Knowledge of general customer service practices
- Ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with team members and public
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate’s geographical location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/ training and other qualifications.
