ROLE OVERVIEW

Under moderate supervision, the Senior Radiation Therapist performs a wide range of routine and complex radiation therapy procedures to support patient treatment. This role also carries coordination responsibilities     working closely with the Manager and Chief Therapist to direct daily technical activities, supervise staff, and uphold the highest standards of quality, safety, and patient care within the Radiation Oncology department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform radiation therapy procedures across a range of complexity, including LINAC operation and CT simulation.
Demonstrate foundational dosimetry knowledge to support treatment planning activities.
Coordinate and monitor the daily workflow and scheduling of the radiation therapy technical team.
Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to staff regarding procedures and equipment operation.
Evaluate staff performance in conjunction with the Manager and Chief Therapist; administer corrective action as needed.
Assume Chief Therapist responsibilities in their absence.
Oversee radiation therapy students during clinical rotations.
Conduct chart rounds, peer reviews, and end-of-treatment chart close-out.
Assist with weekly chart checks, medical records audits, billing verification, and QA data collection.
Monitor equipment daily; report malfunctions to the Chief Therapist and Physicist.
Maintain adequate supply inventory and coordinate procurement as necessary.
Identify training and development needs for self and staff; monitor mandatory training compliance.
Adhere to all infection control, safety, and hospital policies at all times.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS & LICENCES

Active Radiation Therapist licence in the state of Maryland (mandatory     screened at application).
Registered Radiologic Technologist licence (RTT/ARRT).
AHA BLS/CPR Card (current).

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

Minimum 3   5 years of Radiation Therapy clinical experience.
Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy or Radiologic Technology (minimum);
Bachelor's preferred.
Prior supervisory, lead, or senior therapist experience is a strong plus.

Experience with quality assurance activities, chart audits, and peer review processes.
