OverviewThe Manager, Speech-Language Therapy Services administers and manages outpatient speech-language clinical services at the Outpatient Clinic, Greenspring, and Ashland Avenue campuses. This professional will act as liaison within the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD), with other Institute departments, and external organizations. This position will be engaged in program development; supervise Speech‑Language Pathologists providing outpatient services; conduct outpatient speech‑language evaluations and treatment;
maintain documentation relative to services offered; and participate in intra- and interdisciplinary training programs.
- In conjunction with the Director of Medical Operations, manage and administer outpatient speech‑language clinical functions to include monitoring processes, developing staff schedules according to departmental and institute productivity guidelines, working with administrative staff to address problems affecting productivity (e.g., internal referral process, client show rate), and tracking and reviewing scheduling and documentation statistics.
- Collaborate with the Manager, Speech‑Language Training to identify training opportunities and continuing education needs for staff. Communicate clinic needs and capacity regarding graduate students and clinical fellows.
- Be the primary contact for outpatient speech‑language issues related with the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD).
- Recruit and hire clinical staff for CARD’s outpatient speech‑language clinic.
- Supervise certified/licensed staff, clinical fellows, and graduate students providing services in the CARD Outpatient Speech‑Language Clinic.
- Manage, monitor, and address issues relating to the quality of outpatient clinical services offered.
- Participate in developing intra‑ and interdisciplinary outpatient speech‑language clinical services.
- Provide functional communication (i.e., speech/language), oral motor, and feeding/swallowing assessment and treatment, with consideration to patients and their families’ needs and interests.
- Participate in intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary activities relative to patient care (e.g., conferences and professional development training activities).
- Maintain documentation consistent with Institute and departmental expectations while adhering to the guidelines established by The Joint Commission, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and the American Speech–Language–Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Maintain appropriate professional affiliations for state and national licensure/certification and follow standards set forth by the Institute and the department.
- Participate in departmental activities and outreach activities in the community (e.g., presentations, service on committees).
- Assist Director and Assistant Director in setting and implementing goals for self and staff professional growth and development.
- Current Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology granted by
- Has or is eligible for Maryland State Licensure in Speech‑Language Pathology.
Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology, with related clinical requirements.
EXPERIENCE- Five (5) years of licensed clinical experience with an emphasis on pediatric communication disorders required.
- Experience or additional coursework in administration, supervision, or management preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
