Patient Care Technician I

Under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, the Patient Care Technician I delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, monitoring surgical dressings, assisting with activities of daily living, performing phlebotomy, and collecting specimen samples. This position requires careful observation and effective communication of patient status to identify needs and ensure appropriate care, while working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Key responsibilities encompass managing patient testing and care based on clinical assessments, supporting admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring patient safety and comfort, maintaining a clean and safe patient environment, providing wound care and orthopedic device management, performing catheter care and blood glucose monitoring, responding promptly to patient alarms, and strictly adhering to safety protocols. Additionally, the technician facilitates patient flow, accurately documents care activities, and undertakes other duties as assigned in a full-time capacity.

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or its equivalent, possess current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Although prior experience is not mandatory, preference will be given to candidates with direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting. Successful applicants will exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate the ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships and collaborate within a team, and show proficiency in prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities in high-pressure environments.
