Patient Care Technician II

Under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, the Patient Care Technician II delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, performing phlebotomy, collecting specimen samples, and assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs). This position entails monitoring and accurately documenting patient status, facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge procedures, and ensuring patient safety and comfort. Key responsibilities encompass wound care, catheter management, blood glucose monitoring, EKG operation, and providing support with enteral feedings and respiratory treatments as directed.

The technician works collaboratively with the healthcare team, provides guidance to junior staff, participates in patient rounds, responds promptly to alarms, and complies with established safety protocols to enhance patient outcomes and maintain a secure clinical environment. Additional duties include maintaining patient rooms and supplies, delivering post-mortem care, and contributing to efficient patient flow and care delivery.

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or its equivalent, possess current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred. The position demands excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships and collaborate within a team, as well as the capability to prioritize tasks and perform efficiently under pressure.

Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in computer systems, apply proper techniques for obtaining and accurately documenting blood glucose results, and execute delegated nursing tasks with sensitivity to the diverse needs of patients. Furthermore, a thorough understanding of and adherence to aseptic techniques is required.
