Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

Catholic Charities of Baltimore, St. Ann Adult Day Care Services is currently seeking an Activities Assistant - PRN, who is responsible for helping participants take part in program activities and to function at their highest level of independence. Provides assistance with activities of daily living, conducts or assists with group activities, and addresses participants special needs. The work schedule is PRN/On Call.

St. Ann Adult Day Service provides medical supervision and a pleasant, structured day program for elders and those with disabilities. St. Ann helps to keep families together and offers a much-needed respite for caregivers. We help to reduce the likelihood of premature nursing home placement.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implements program activities which have been designed to meet the needs and interests of individual participants.
  • Identifies each participant’s personal needs, behaviors and interests and communicates changes in needs and functioning following agreed upon procedures.
  • Encourages participants to participate in various activities, such as arts and crafts, music, etc.
  • Accompanies participants to and from vehicles and provides assistance getting into and out vehicles as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all participants’ care information to assure the protection of client’s privacy and rights.
  • Assists in documenting accidents and incidents.
  • Set up for meals, serve food and cleans dining area after meals.
  • Provides personal care and instruction in activities of daily living under the supervision of the nursing staff.
  • Maintains a safe and organized environment by assuring that the facility is in good order including the supplies and equipment and that health and safety problems are reported immediately following the established procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one year experience with elders in a long-term care setting (group home, skilled nursing facility, or day care).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
PROGRAM SPECIFIC DUTIES

Employees working in the following program(s) have responsibilities that are in addition to the above duties and responsibilities. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Licensed GNA with the Maryland Board of Nursing, active and in good standing.
REQUIREMENTS & ABILITIES
  • Shows reliability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance.
  • Excellent communication skills including active listening.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients and co-workers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about accomplishing tasks or moving from one work site to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) and to observe and communicate with others.
  • Ability to transfer approximately 110-200lbs regularly throughout the day.
