Job Requirements

Provides overall strategic direction and leadership for enterprise oncology pharmacy services across all UMMS sites of care, including regulated and unregulated infusion, specialty pharmacy integration, investigational drug services, and advanced therapeutics therapy programs.

Accountable for establishing a coordinated and scalable oncology pharmacy practice model that aligns clinical excellence, patient access, operational performance, and financial stewardship across the health system. Serves as the enterprise pharmacy leader responsible for oncology medication-use strategy, site-of-care optimization, network fidelity, and integration with UMMS specialty pharmacy and infusion services.

Works collaboratively with physician, nursing, and pharmacy leadership and executive stakeholders to standardize oncology pharmacy practices, expand patient access, improve outcomes, and optimize enterprise financial performance.

Provides strategic vision and direction to oncology pharmacy leadership and interdisciplinary teams, ensuring operational excellence across policy development, regulatory compliance, investigational services, and evolving advanced therapy treatment model.

  • Leads enterprise oncology pharmacy strategy across all UMMS sites of care, including infusion, oral oncolytic, investigational, and specialty pharmacy services
  • Establishes standardized oncology pharmacy practices, workflows, policies, and clinical service models across the health system
  • Partners with oncology physician leadership and cancer service line stakeholders to support growth, operational alignment, and high-quality oncology care delivery
  • Develops and implements strategies to improve prescription capture and network fidelity through UMMS specialty pharmacy and infusion services
  • Collaborates with infusion operations leadership and medical solutions leadership to optimize site-of-care strategy and oncology patient access
  • Provides strategic oversight of oncology investigational drug services and integration with translational and clinical research programs
  • Leads pharmacy operational readiness and governance for cellular therapies, gene therapies, CAR-T programs, and emerging high-cost therapeutics
  • Reimagines and leads the enterprise High Cost Drug Committee to improve utilization oversight, financial stewardship, and strategic therapeutic decision-making
  • Collaborates with payer relations, contracting, and revenue cycle leadership to optimize reimbursement, patient access, and financial sustainability of oncology services
  • Supports development and implementation of oncology treatment pathways, formulary management strategies, and evidence-based medication utilization standards
  • Oversees compliance with USP , USP , FDA, FACT, accreditation, and applicable federal/state regulatory requirements related to oncology pharmacy practice
  • Drives EHR optimization and oncology workflow standardization in collaboration with Epic, informatics, and operational teams
  • Utilizes operational, financial, utilization, and clinical outcomes data to drive strategic decision-making and performance improvement initiatives
  • Leads process improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, operational efficiency, treatment access, and patient experience
  • Provides leadership over recruitment, mentorship, development, and performance management of oncology pharmacy personnel
  • Represents Pharmacy Services in enterprise oncology, research, investigational drug, and strategic planning committees
Work Experience Required
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, or MS) or actively in progress
  • Licensure by the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy is required within 90 days of start date
  • Three (3) years of experience in administrative/managerial pharmacy
  • Demonstrated experience in oncology pharmacy operations, infusion, specialty pharmacy integration, and investigational drug services
