Under direct supervision, the Perioperative Operations Specialist is responsible for monitoring and documenting the movement of patients, physicians, staff, and visitors within the Operating Room, Open Heart, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, and Cystoscopy area. This position entails performing complex clerical duties, facilitating communication across multiple departments, managing schedules and emergency postings, and delivering customer-focused reception and information services. The specialist upholds the integrity and confidentiality of patient records, coordinates the transfer of supplies and specimens, and contributes to the efficient flow of patients and overall operational effectiveness.

A strong commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and compliance with quality service standards is required, along with authorized access to medication storage areas as necessary for job functions.

Work Experience

Education and Experience requirements for the Perioperative Ops Spec position include a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED), with an Associate's degree preferred, and a minimum of one year of clerical experience in a clinical environment, ideally within Perioperative Services. Candidates are expected to possess familiarity with automated scheduling or clinical information systems, as well as medical terminology. Essential skills encompass clerical competencies such as filing and data management, professional phone etiquette, the ability to multitask effectively under pressure, and strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Additionally, the role prioritizes patient safety through proactive risk management, timely reporting of adverse events, and the identification of potential hazards related to processes and equipment.
