Job Summary

The Oncology Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Acute Care Medical Oncology will provide pharmacotherapy oversight for adult patients with solid tumor malignancies in an acute care setting. Responsibilities include rounding with a multidisciplinary team, assisting with discharge planning, addressing clinical questions, providing patient education, and participating in antimicrobial stewardship activities. The specialist will also perform coverage duties such as antimicrobial approval, emergency response, chemotherapy order assistance, and cross‑coverage with other oncology teams.

Responsibilities
  • Rounding with multidisciplinary team and discharge planning.
  • Addressing clinical questions related to chemotherapy patients.
  • Providing patient education.
  • Participating in antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Covering antimicrobial approvals, emergency response, chemotherapy order assistance, and cross‑coverage needs.
  • Educating students, residents, pharmacists, and other healthcare practitioners.
  • Acting as preceptor for pharmacy residents in PGY‑1 and PGY‑2 oncology residency programs.
  • Supporting research and participating in hospital departmental committees for formulary management and policy development.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Maryland.
  • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy with a Ph.

    D. degree, or B.S. plus one year of experience.
  • PGY‑1 residency, and PGY‑2 specialty residency in oncology with experience in hematologic malignancies preferred.
  • Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) certification required within two years of start date.
  • Intravenous (IV) Certification (aseptic technique and hazardous substance handling) within 90 days upon hire unless exempted.
  • BLS certification within one year of hire.

Salary

Minimum $59.29/hour – Maximum $97.91/hour. Compensation commensurate with equity and experience for similar scope and responsibility.
