Brief Description
The Day Services Support Specialist II (DSSS II) facilitates community-based activities and provides support and advocacy for people with developmental disabilities participating in The Arc Baltimore’s Day Services program. The Role leverages planned outings and activities—such as fitness classes, museum visits, art classes, and career exploration—to maximize community participation, inclusion, and independence. The specialist may work independently with one person or a group and frequently interacts with families and team members.

- Provide guidance and support for successful participation in chosen activities and achievement of goals based on Person‑Centered Plans.
- Complete accurate and quality daily documentation and reporting related to supported individuals’ activities and goal progress.
- Provide personal care assistance as needed.
- Participate in the development of Person‑Centered Plans by communicating preferences, strengths, needs, and barriers to teams.
- Provide, monitor, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Provide behavioral support and medication administration, if appropriate, per the supported person’s plan.
- Drive an agency vehicle or personal vehicle as appropriate to transport people to activities or for agency business needs.
- Ensure monthly vehicle logs and mileage forms (if applicable) are completed and submitted on schedule.
- Complete and maintain all agency‑required training per guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Independent and self‑directed.
- At least 20 years of age.
- Valid Maryland driver’s license with a clean driving record and at least three years of driving experience.
- Attend all meetings and trainings as required.
- Two or more years of experience working with adults with developmental disabilities.
- CMT certification desirable.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Outstanding organizational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Computer skills required.
- Knowledge of iCM platform.
- Position requires frequent standing.
- Driving and transporting people is a significant part of this position.
- Hours of operation:
Monday – Friday, 8:00–4:00 pm (schedule flexibility may be required). - Some lifting up to 50 lbs.
