About the role

Precision Eye Care is a solo ophthalmology practice providing comprehensive medical and surgical eye care. We are hiring an Ophthalmic Technician to support patient flow in the clinic and to own the clinical follow-up that keeps patients moving between visits, testing, and surgery. This is an on-site role working directly alongside the physician and the technician team.

What you'll do
  • Room patients, obtain histories and medications, and perform preliminary workups including visual acuity, refraction, tonometry, and pupil assessment
  • Perform and prepare ophthalmic diagnostic testing as directed — visual fields, OCT, topography, biometry, fundus photography
  • Own clinical follow-up: track patients who need repeat testing, post-procedure checks, or return visits, and ensure each one is contacted and scheduled
  • Handle inbound clinical questions from patients, triage appropriately, and route urgent concerns to the physician same-day
  • Coordinate with the scheduling and patient access coordinator so clinical follow-up needs are reflected accurately on the schedule
  • Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and instrument readiness between patients
  • Document accurately and promptly in athenaOne
What we're looking for
  • Prior experience in an ophthalmology or optometry practice strongly preferred; other clinical experience considered for candidates willing to train
  • COA, COT, or equivalent certification preferred, or willingness to pursue certification with practice support
  • Comfort with EHR documentation; athena

    One experience a plus
  • Strong follow-through — this role succeeds or fails on whether patients who need to come back actually come back
  • Clear, warm communication with patients, many of whom are older adults navigating surgery
  • Reliable, on-site attendance
