Main Purpose of Job

The Education Program Clinical Supervisor provides clinical and administrative supervision to lower level social workers and allied clinical staff, fulfills administrative responsibilities assigned by the Chief of Clinical Services, and collaborates with other professional staff to formulate and provide appropriate care for children/adolescents with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. The purpose of this position is to supervise, administer, and direct the clinical services that social workers are providing to clients/families within the agency.

Education :
Determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.

Experience :
Four years of experience rendering clinical social work services in a health care or treatment setting subsequent to the receipt of an approved Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.

Note :
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Social Work classifications or Social Work specialty codes in the Social Science, Psychology, and Welfare field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

School Social Workers must possess three semester hours of special education coursework and possess a certificate from the Maryland Board of Education in School Social Work as per COMAR 13A.12.04.11.

• Experience providing clinical services to children and/or adolescents with emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric needs in a mental health, educational, or residential setting.
• Experience providing clinical and/or administrative supervision to social workers or other behavioral health professionals.

• Employees in this classification must have a license as a Master Social Worker (approved for independent practice), Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker-Clinical issued by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners.
• Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess an appropriate operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
