The Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics is pleased to invite applications for the Hecht‑Levi Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Bioethics, a two‑year program of study and experiential learning in bioethics at the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics. The Program seeks applicants to begin this fellowship in September 2027.
Program Activities- Weekly seminars, presentations and discussions with bioethics scholars
- Individualized research program
- Bioethics coursework through the Berman Institute’s Master in Bioethics program
- Mentoring in bioethics
- Teaching (serve as course director, co‑director, or TA depending on experience and background)
- $65,000 per year, plus health and other standard benefits available to all post‑doctoral fellows of Johns Hopkins University
- $2,000 per year for travel/lodging and registration at relevant conferences
- Doctoral‑level degree in bioethics, philosophy, public health, law, medicine, social science, history or other relevant discipline; dissertation must be defended prior to July 1, 2027
- Doctoral degree received no more than three years prior to the Final date to receive applications
- Scholarly interest in bioethics
- Personal Statement (2 pages) explaining your interest in bioethics, the areas of bioethics and research questions you would like to pursue, and how the fellowship would advance your career goals

PRO‑UAW has established a union representing postdoctoral researchers, including postdoctoral fellows and postdoctoral research fellows at Johns Hopkins University. The University and PRO‑UAW will be engaging in negotiations for a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) that may result in changes to the compensation and benefits described above.
