Vision And Hearing Screening Technician Trainee; Part-Time Contractual; Two Positions

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this part-time contractual position is to perform entry-level vision and hearing screening services at the Carroll County Health Department. This position will conduct vision and hearing screenings in accordance with established standards for students in Carroll County public schools from pre-kindergarten through high school, regardless of disability status. This position will also conduct vision and hearing screenings at preschools, daycares and community activities as scheduled.

This position will maintain vision and hearing screening equipment and supplies and notify the Vision and Hearing Administrative Specialist and/or Maternal Child Health Supervisor of equipment issues. This position will assist the Vision and Hearing Administrative Specialist and/or Maternal Child Health Supervisor with scheduling and rescheduling screening dates for public and non-public schools, daycares and community activities. This position requires the selected candidate to have a valid driver's license and a reliable personal vehicle.

:
Candidates may substitute experience operating audiometric and vision screening equipment in a vision and hearing screening program on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.

• 1. Bilingual in Spanish and English (writing and speaking).
• 2. Experience working with school-aged children.
• 3. Experience conducting basic health screenings.
• 4. Experience conducting vision or hearing screenings.
• 5. Experience with medical record keeping.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Candidates for this classification may be given a medical examination and required to demonstrate the ability to perform the work required of the position prior to appointment.
