Pediatric Dietitian

The position involves assessing patients' nutritional status. The dietitian will develop appropriate medical nutrition therapy care plans. Nutrition counseling and education will be provided to patients and caregivers. Recommendations for treatment must be documented in the patient's electronic medical record according to facility policy. Effective communication with coworkers and families is essential to ensure nutrition care plans are implemented and followed.

Participation in interdisciplinary rounds with medical, nursing, and rehab staff is required. Care coordination with interdisciplinary team members will be necessary. All duties and responsibilities for designated inpatients and ambulatory care patients must be performed. The dietitian will function as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient's nutritional care plans. Compliance with all hospital-wide and departmental policies and procedures is required.

Holidays may be required as scheduled. Weekend coverage is not required. On-call duties are not required. Floating may be required as needed. The patient population consists of individuals with complex diagnoses in an inpatient setting. The dietitian will primarily cover TPN patients, short gut syndrome, GI complications, and post-trauma patients who are stabilized. There may also be some coverage for a small infant population on tube feeds transitioning to oral feeding.

Participation in outpatient programs and clinical settings is included. Nutrition support for a subset of the inpatient population is part of the role. Essential functions require collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care. Documentation of recommendations and treatment in the patient's medical record is necessary.
