Nestled into the neighborhood of Mt. Vernon, the sprawling site houses 116 guest rooms alongside Blooms, an eccentric cocktail lounge, and Ash-Bar, a salon‑style café. Far from a support for tourists, Ulysses stands firm as a contributor and tableau vivant of Baltimore’s artistic traditional and its contemporary evolution.
We’re on the hunt for a passionate, forward‑thinking Food & Beverage Manager ready to take our F&B team to the next level! The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced environment, knows how to drive revenue, create unforgettable guest experiences across platforms like Resy, Google, and Yelp, and lead standout banquets and events. They’ll be a champion for employee growth, ensure smooth payroll operations, and bring fresh ideas to the table every day.
This role is built as a launchpad into an exciting future as a Director of Food & Beverage!
- Oversee all F&B operations, including restaurant, bar, banquet, and events.
- Ensure operational alignment with the culinary team to maintain consistency in service and product quality.
- Provide daily support as needed to ensure smooth execution and adequate staff coverage.
- Conduct regular operations and employee reviews to evaluate performance, engagement, and service standards.
- Monitor guest service metrics and maintain high standards through ongoing coaching and quality checks.
- Actively monitor, respond to, and analyze guest reviews on Resy, Google, and Yelp to improve guest satisfaction and public perception.
- Implement guest feedback loops to drive service improvements and reward standout team performance.
- Develop initiatives that encourage positive guest reviews post‑visit and post‑event.
- Lead the planning, execution, and wrap‑up of all banquet functions and private events.
- Oversee the preparation and execution of all Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) , ensuring accuracy and operational readiness.
- Work cross‑functionally with sales, culinary, and service teams to exceed client expectations and increase repeat bookings.
- Create upsell opportunities by offering premium services and tailored event enhancements.
- Develop and execute strategies that drive topline revenue growth across all F&B segments.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop and execute high‑impact promotions and events.
- Identify new business opportunities such as pop‑ups, chef‑led dinners, wine pairings, and themed events.
- Train staff on upselling techniques and implement incentive programs that reward performance.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team culture rooted in respect, accountability, and excellence.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, pre‑shift meetings, and performance check‑ins.
- Ensure new team members are effectively onboarded and that ongoing development is prioritized.
- Foster open communication, recognize achievements, and encourage collaboration across departments.
- Use employee reviews and feedback to guide team development and retention strategies.
- Promote a positive and respectful work environment by addressing concerns, mediating conflicts, and ensuring consistent application of company policies.
