HR / Recruitment Consultant, HR Manager
Location: Onsite daily in Baltimore, MD;
Salary Range: $55,000–$65,000 annually
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurate, timely processing of biweekly payroll for approximately 230 employees, including union staff and commission-based roles. This position ensures payroll compliance, supports reporting needs, and partners closely with HR, finance, and department leaders. This is an onsite role based in Baltimore and requires strong attention to detail, organization, and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities- Process biweekly payroll for 230 employees, including union employees and commission payouts
- Review and validate timesheets, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and union requirements
- Enter and audit payroll data such as new hires, terminations, salary changes, deductions, and garnishments
- Collaborate with HR on employee records, benefits, and pay adjustments
- Prepare payroll reports for accounting, finance, and management
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve employee payroll questions
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Maintain accurate payroll files and documentation
- Support year-end processes including W-2 distribution and audits
- Partner with finance on payroll funding and general ledger reconciliation
- Assist with process improvements and system updates as needed
- Previous payroll processing experience, preferably handling multi-state or union payroll
- Familiarity with commissions and incentive pay structures
- Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations
- Proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
