Responsibilities
  • Handle the ADA absenteeism process and list in coordination with DPSCS-HR.
  • Investigate complaints of discrimination and equal employment opportunity.
  • Receive and process ADA reasonable accommodation requests in an interactive process with the employee, medical provider, HR, the appointing authority, and any other relevant parties.
  • Maintain confidential ADA files.
  • Report routine ADA data to the Executive Direction.
  • Make recommendations regarding ADA training, operational issues, training and programming.
  • Provide information and guidance to managers regarding ADA/ADA Absenteeism/EEO laws and requirements for compliance.
Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet all minimum qualifications to be considered, and to appear on the list of people eligible for hire.

  • Education:

    Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Experience:

    Five years of administrative staff or professional work.
  • Substitution:
    Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
  • Substitution:
    Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of experience for the required experience.
  • Substitution:
    Candidates may substitute a Master's degree for the required experience.
  • Substitution:
    Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of experience independently managing and owning the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) interactive process, including evaluating requests and making accommodation determinations.
  • Experience conducting interactive processes involving the employee, medical provider, HR, the appointing authority, and any other relevant parties.
  • Experience managing multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Experience related to ADA law and compliance.
Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
