This Human Resources Generalist role is ideal for a collaborative professional who thrives at the intersection of public impact and private-sector innovation, helping to build and sustain a diverse, high-performing workforce. The Human Resources Generalist will act as a strategic partner to leadership, developing and executing human resources programs that attract, retain, and grow talented professionals.
JobDuties for the Human Resources Generalist:
- Partner with leadership to develop and execute HR strategies that support workforce planning, organizational growth, and inclusive economic development goals
- Manage full-cycle recruitment efforts, including sourcing diverse talent, building community partnerships, and leading onboarding to ensure a strong candidate and new hire experience
- Design and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks in compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and public-sector requirements
- Provide coaching and guidance on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, and performance management
- Support compensation and benefits programs through salary benchmarking, administration, vendor coordination, and payroll compliance collaboration
- Drive employee engagement, retention, and professional development initiatives that foster an inclusive, equitable workplace culture
- Maintain HRIS systems, employee records, and data integrity while producing reports and analytics for leadership decision-making
- Handle administrative HR functions including leave administration, disability claims, employment verifications, and unemployment inquiries
- Support organizational change initiatives, special projects, and continuous improvement efforts across HR operations
Qualifications for the Human Resources Generalist:
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience (public sector, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations preferred)
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, benefits administration, and recruitment
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) strongly preferred
- Experience using ADP a plus
- Strong team player and collaboration skills
Location: 100% on site in Baltimore, MD. M-F, 7am-9am flexible start time
Salary: $80,000-$95,000 depending on experience
