We are seeking a CTY
Talent Acquisition Specialist (TAS) who will perform and manage the full life cycle recruiting process for various departments, schools, and academic centers across Johns Hopkins University (JHU). The CTY Talent Acquisition Specialist will leverage organizational acumen and influencing skills to partner, advise and collaborate with hiring managers and other stakeholders. The CTY Talent Acquisition Specialist will provide consultation and guidance in planning, sourcing, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding the right talent to position JHU for success in meeting its short and long-term goals.

The CTY Talent Acquisition Specialist will require experience collaborating closely with Compensation on offers and evaluations and working closely with HR Business Partners to address any HR matters. The TAS will help with external recruiting programs and initiatives to expand the diversity of the applicant pools and promote community partnerships to increase awareness and accessibility of employment opportunities.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with hiring managers on the overall recruiting process. Establishes hiring criteria based on organization structure, job descriptions, requisition intake form, and competencies.
  • Provide advice and assistance with job descriptions and postings and consults with Compensation.
  • Develop recruiting plans that leverage knowledge of internal and external markets.
  • Create innovative sourcing strategies for passive and diverse candidates through both established and creative methods such as job posting, internal databases, employee referrals, online job boards and databases, data mining of the internet, social media, career fairs, etc.
  • Leverage prospecting and networking skills to build and maintain a network of contacts and potential candidates.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with professional associations. Attends appropriate conferences and association meetings to network as necessary.
  • Identify and network with colleges and universities that have graduate programs in research administration to identify candidates and referrals.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to market the organization to potential applicants. Work collaboratively with marketing and communications resources to ensure that applicable media (print materials, online presence, social media, etc.) reflect and convey an appropriate image for current and future employees.
  • Collaborate with external recruitment firms for retained or contingent searches. This includes researching and screening for appropriate firms, supporting firm selection, facilitating procurement of firms through appropriate university processes, and overseeing and managing the work of the firm to ensure deliverables are achieved.
  • Ensure that diverse pools of talent are identified and leveraged for candidate sourcing and ensure that diverse slates of candidates are presented to hiring managers. Advise senior management on trends and opportunities identified in seeking diverse candidate pools.
  • Manage and/or coordinate selection procedures including applicant tracking, interviewing, assessing, reference checking, and background checking. Reviews and filters applications (online applications, resumes, and cover letters) for minimum qualifications. Screen and interview viable (or potential) applicants for functional competence, applicable background, relevant skills, individual goals, and fit with Johns Hopkins.
  • Assist hiring managers in the evaluation of applicants’ qualifications and selection of the most qualified candidates. Advise on effective candidate assessment and interview techniques including use of behavioral-based interview questions.
