Overview
The Level 4 System Administrator provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems. Responsibilities include managing daily configuration and operation of IT systems and providing Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) support, including problem identification, diagnosis and resolution. The role also covers account management, configuration management, security compliance, system monitoring, patch management, capacity planning, and inter-team communication with agency management and internal customers.
Responsibilities- Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems; assist users in accessing and using IT systems.
- Manage daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems; perform account management (establishing, activating, modifying, disabling, and removing accounts).
- Provide configuration management, implementation, and sustainment of compliance with applicable system security controls; perform periodic vulnerability scans.
- Provide day-to-day IT operations support for client/server/storage/network devices and mobile devices; monitor, troubleshoot and resolve issues; implement IAVA security patches and maintain patch status in appropriate systems of record.
- Support escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers; optimize system operations and resource utilization; perform system capacity analysis and planning.
- Provide in-depth troubleshooting experience and detailed analysis and feedback for escalated tickets to agency management and internal customers.
- Provide support for dispatch systems and hardware; participate in the resolution process.
- Configure and manage UNIX, Linux and Windows (or applicable) operating systems; install/load OS software; troubleshoot and maintain integrity of network components; implement OS enhancements for reliability and performance.
- Coordinate with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and Information System Owner (ISO) regarding system changes as part of Change and Configuration Management; support POA&M milestones and coordinate status within the Source System of Record for Security Authorizations.
- Ensure IT assets remain compliant with Identity & Access Management (ICAM) policy.
- Provide Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution; apply knowledge of mission islands, Trusted Thin Client, and enhanced VDI (remote GPU and memory scaling).
- Support system design, mission architecture and associated hardware; possess working knowledge of system administration interdependencies within a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA); analyze and resolve complex problems with server hardware, applications and software integration.
- Provide Tier 3 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems.
- Experience with mission islands, Trusted Thin Client, and enhanced VDI is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required, or four (4) years of additional SA experience in lieu of a degree.
- Twenty (20) years of SA experience in programs/contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
- DoD 8570 compliance with Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level III certification, and Computing Environment (CE) Certification (CE can be fulfilled with Microsoft OS, CentOS/Red Hat OS CE certifications).
- Eight (8) years of experience with Service Management (ITSM) is required; ITIL 4 platform certification is required.
- Assigned roles:
Directory Services TTOs require experience with Active Directory, Identity Management, SCCM, DNS, Group Policy, Active Role Servers, PAM services, and MS Exchange;
Desktop & Enclave Services TTOs require understanding of mission islands, Trusted Thin Client, and enhanced VDI.
