Education

Education:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or a related scientific or technical discipline; or equivalent.

General Experience
  • At least five (5) years of experience with SharePoint site and page development.
  • At least five (5) years of computer experience in at least two of the following disciplines:
  • system analysis, system programming, application programming, and/or equipment analysis.
  • Knowledge of web development languages such as HTML, XML, Java, Visual Basic and other development and programming tools;
  • Knowledge of web development applications and web page authoring, publishing, composition, editing, imaging, conversion and graphic manipulation software.
  • Knowledge of the structure, conventions, functions and capabilities of the Internet.
  • Knowledge of server operating systems such as Windows, UNIX, Linux or other web enabled operating systems.
  • Skill in the access and retrieval of data across multiple platforms using Relational Database technology and various querying and reporting tools.
  • Skill in configuring Internet, Intranet and web site associated software for efficient and effective web page presentation and performance.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software.
  • Ability to design, implement and maintain an agency’s website.
  • Ability to use software for web site authoring and maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with network users, agency staff, vendor representatives, technical programming staff and the general public.
Preferred Experience
  • At least five (5) years experience in the field of commercial or graphic publication art as a designer, illustrator, or graphic artist.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms.
  • Designs, develops, implements and maintains the client’s SharePoint Intranet and team sites.
  • Edits client Intranet page code created by automatic conversion of other documents, to correct mistakes made in conversion, using web editing software;
  • Assists other Information Technology staff in development and maintenance of web-based projects application interfaces;
  • Develops and maintains style sheets, graphical content and layouts that are used on multiple client pages and sites;
  • Converts text to HTML format;
  • Creates and refines graphics for client Intranet pages from clipart, digital images or screen captures using graphics tools and converts those graphics into the correct format for Intranet pages;
  • Creates and checks links to other content in client Intranet documents using web authoring tools;
  • Recommends web site policies, standards, controls and practices to be followed by users of the Intranet and team SharePoint sites;
  • Develops the contents of client Intranet pages and edits existing documents into the appropriate format for Internet and Intranet presentations;
  • Designs page layouts and graphics for the client Intranet;
  • Creates directories or folders on client SharePoint sites and uploads web files to correct destination using server management or other file transfer methods;
  • Recommends upgrades to hardware and software in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the client Intranet;
  • Optimizes the client Intranet architecture for navigability by web browsers;
  • Links agency Intranet pages to web sites of other agencies to increase the scope of available information;
  • Locates and installs tools to create client Intranet content, structure and presentation and to check for consistency;
  • Diagnoses and corrects problems that arise on the client Intranet and team SharePoint sites;
  • Updates client site information as required;
  • Complies with relevant State and industry standards in the creation of client Intranet and team SharePoint sites;
  • May create user-input forms and output files to collect information from on-line web users;
  • May conduct training on the application and use of the client Intranet and team SharePoint sites.
