IT Analyst (Specialist)

Description

The IT Analyst serves as a vital bridge between technical compliance and digital accessibility, ensuring that the university’s digital landscape is inclusive and functional for all users. The role focuses on proactive maintenance and remediation of web platforms and university-sponsored software, working in close collaboration with DoIT Associate VP, University Communication and Marketing, and the Division of Institutional Equity to support digital accessibility initiatives.

Responsibilities

Digital Accessibility & Web Operations
  • Website Remediation:
    Lead ongoing accessibility maintenance and remediation for campus-wide web platforms in collaboration with University Communication and Marketing.
  • System Administration:
    Manage the Silktide platform, including user training, site auditing, and troubleshooting to ensure continuous digital compliance.
  • Technical Support:
    Oversee the Tier 1 support queue for digital accessibility and Word Press, resolving user issues or escalating them to ensure a seamless web experience.
  • Data Integrity:
    Partner with the AOK Library to train site administrators on proper digital archiving and long-term material retention.
Strategic Procurement & Software Compliance
  • Accessibility Review:
    Act as a technical consultant for software procurement, evaluating new products and websites for accessibility, privacy, and security before purchase.
  • Vendor Relations:
    Coordinate with third‑party vendors to secure necessary documentation (VPATs/HECVATs) and review for accessibility.
  • Catalog Management:
    Maintain and update the university software catalog, highlighting accessibility statuses to provide transparency for campus stakeholders.
Leadership & Strategic Outreach
  • Program Mentorship:
    Spearhead the Digital Accessibility Staff Peer Mentor Program and lead student ambassador teams to foster a culture of inclusion across campus.
  • Communications Support:
    Assist the Director of Communications in executing outreach campaigns and professional development initiatives for the student workforce.
  • Compliance Auditing:
    Conduct regular audits of faculty and staff training to ensure long‑term institutional accountability and adherence to digital policies.
Required

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience creating and implementing new processes in an information technology (IT) organization.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Digital Accessibility experience in a Word Press environment.
  • Experience in training users to use software.
  • Working knowledge of Word Press and Adobe Acrobat PDF.
  • Familiarity with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) as well as Section 508 of the United States Workforce Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • Strong organizational skills, demonstrating the ability to work on multiple projects and manage priorities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
  • An understanding and passion for accessibility issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Thorough understanding of tools to aid in accessibility evaluation.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities.
  • Experience in testing for and remediation of accessibility barriers in web, mobile, and native applications.
  • Experience working with developers to guide the development of accessible user interfaces.
  • Experience in regulatory compliance.
  • Significant knowledge of current and emerging accessible development practice and assistive technology.
  • Fluency with disability law and regulation in the higher education context.
  • Ability to perform a manual digital accessibility test for websites and software.
  • Familiarity with what a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) is and how to interpret one provided by a vendor.
